Dr. Barunas is a foodie, former division I varsity college athlete and mother to twin boys and her dog Wallace. She grew up in Gilford, NH, a small town bordering Lake Winnipesaukee in the Belknap Mountains. She attended The George Washington University in the District of Columbia and earned her bachelor’s degree as Magna Cum Laude in Exercise Science. She then graduated Magna Cum Laude at Boston University, earning her Master’s degree in Nutrition.
Next, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. She then earned her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine. She completed her dual residency program through the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Barunas is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She was also honored in Edge Magazine as one of the top “40 Under 40” dental practitioners in the country in 2021.
Dr. Barunas has extensive experience in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, bone grafting techniques and sedation dentistry. Before starting dental school, Dr. Barunas worked as a Registered Dietitian at Boston Medical Center and was also a certified personal trainer. Currently living in Philadelphia, Dr. Barunas loves spending time with her family, sampling local restaurants and traveling in her free time.
